Reaching out to voters

Lots of voters will turn up at General Elections to vote Democratic, but when it comes to Primary Elections sometimes they don’t make the effort. That’s a real shame because it’s important for Democrats to be involved in the process at every level.

To encourage participation in the June 17 Democratic Primary, LOW Dems and the Orange County Democratic Committee plan to send out hundreds of personal postcard messages urging Democratic voters to “Defy Expectations” and vote in large numbers.

There will be a Postcard Party from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 22 at Fareways Cafe in Lake of the Woods. Postcards and address stickers will be provided. The LOW Dems will provide some postage, but volunteers may want to buy stamps on their own as a contribution to the health of our Democracy.

The pre-printed postcards also contain key dates leading up to the June 17 Primary and links to information about our candidates for statewide office, voting registration, polling places and applications to vote by mail.

If you can’t attend the May 22 session, but you’d like to do your part, contact Jeanne Allen at jeanneallen123@gmail.com and ask for a stack of postcards to write at home.

It’s so important that Abigail Spanberger be Virginia’s next governor and that she has a strong team to help her resist the misguided Republican assault on our rights in the Old Dominion.
