LOW turns out to welcome Rep. Vindman

More than 100 Lake of the Woods voters turned out July 18 to welcome U.S. Rep. Eugene Vindman and to support his re-election as congressman from Virginia’s 7th District. The Congressman described his accomplishments during his first term and his plans for the future and answered questions on a variety of topics. The General Election is scheduled for Nov. 3.

Rep. Vindman to visit club

U.S. Rep. Eugene Vindman, who is seeking re-election in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, will be the guest of the Lake of the Woods Democratic Club at a reception on Saturday, July 18.

Vindman will meet with constituents in Marian Pronk Hall at the LOW Community Center from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

Vindman, a retired Army officer from Dale City, has represented Lake of the Woods in Congress since he was first elected in November of 2024. He serves on the House Committees on agriculture and armed services.

Born in Soviet Ukraine during the Cold War, Vindman came to America with his father, brothers, and grandmother when he was just four years old. For 25 years, he served as an infantry officer in the 82nd Airborne Division, a military prosecutor, and an advisor at the White House National Security Council. After serving across the county and around the globe, Eugene and his wife Cindy, an Army Reservist, have spent nearly a decade in the Commonwealth raising their two kids Max and Madi in Prince William County.

Vindman’s campaign web site quotes the candidate as saying, “I’m running… to protect our democracy, restore our freedoms and fight for all of our communities to thrive. America must remain a refuge for families like mine, where hard work matters, truth prevails, rights are protected, and we are all free to be who we are and pursue our dreams in this land of opportunity.”

Early voting ahead of the August 4 primary election began June 18. Vindman is unopposed in the Democratic primary. Three Republicans are vying for the opportunity to run against him in the Nov. 3 general election.

Coffee, tea and pastries will be available at the reception. The Vindman campaign will be accepting personal campaign donations.

Let’s celebrate 2025

The annual holiday luncheon of the LOW Democratic Club will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11 from noon to 2 p.m. at Kearney Pub at Old House Vineyards, 18351 Corkys Lane in Culpeper.

The cost is $25 per person, which includes a plated entree with a side salad and dessert buffet as well as water and a self-service coffee bar. A cash bar will also be available.

Please select your choice of four available entrees at the time of registration. If you require gluten-free bread, make that selection as well.

Your choices are:

Homemade quiche — broccoli and cheddar

Chicken Strudel — puff pastry with chicken, onion and topped with a mushroom sauce

Salmon Burger — pan seared w/pickled fennel, saffron, aioli and greens on brioche bun

Roast Beef Tartine — herb roasted with a caramelized shallot and Old House Bacchanalia gravy w/crumbled blue cheese served open-faced on toasted bread.

Note: The Salmon Burger and the Roast Beef Tartine will be offered in gluten-free versions. If you prefer gluten-free, please note that when you make your selection.

Pay your 2026 club dues

Membership dues for the Lake of the Woods Democratic Club are $35 per person for the calendar year. Your 2026 membership is due for renewal on January 1, 2026.

This fee covers expenses of running club events and donations to the campaigns of Democratic candidates supported by club members.
